7 Things That People Misjudge About Reduced carb Diet

There are a lot of misconceptions about low-carb diets. Almost every "anti-low carb" information or news report says the same thing: reduced-carb weight loss plans dont have enough fruits and greens, and even often draw an image of people eating unhealthy diet.
The reality, low-carb diets focus on healthy food, nutritious, and research directly into reducing carbs continues to show increasingly positive results.
Here are the misconceptions and this truths about low-carb diets to line your own mind at easiness as well as help you inform others.
1. Consuming Low Carb = Courting Heart Disease
In study after study, cholesterol, blood pressure level, triglycerides, and other indications for coronary disease risk decline on low-carb diets. Also, in one large long expression study, even low-carb diets together with a lot of animal protein and fatty did not raise the risk connected with heart disease.
2. Eating Fruits and Vegetables not Allowed on Low-Carb Diets
People believe that fruits and fruit and vegetables are not allowed because they are typically carbohydrate.
Actually, people who take a low carb diet almost all any time eat more fruits and vegetables than usual. Instead, non-starchy vegetables are actually comes at the bottom of period of time carb pyramids.
3. Low-Carb Diets will Cause Liver Disease
The reason is that since people with kidney disease are typically encouraged to enjoy low protein diets, a diet that is higher in health proteins will raise kidney disease.
In fact, a low-carb diet is frequently not necessarily higher in protein than the most current suggested levels.
4. Low Carb means No Carb
Many people thought that a low carb diet must be exceedingly low in carbohydrates.
Not even a single expert endorses this. The actuality, you should have at least 45% - 65% carbohydrate depending upon individual.
5. Dr Atkins Died of His Personal Diet
Despite improperly obtained medical reports mis-reported by the vegetarian group "Physicians Committee for Responsible Remedies", Dr Atkins died from head injuries resulting from a fall. He was not fat while he died
6. Low-Carb Diets Have Insufficient Dietary fiber
The reason is, because fiber can be carbohydrate, a low-carb diet must be lower fiber.
In fact, a lot of low-carb foods are generally high in fiber, and on eating plans that encourage carb counting, fiber doesnt come into the calculation. Soluble fiber remains undigested, so it is prompted on low-carb diets.
7. Low-Carb Diets will "Strip" All The Calcium from Your current Bones

The reasoning goes that low-carbo diets are always high in necessary protein. People on higher protein diets are likely to have more calcium in their urine. But this turns out to follow a red herring. This has been confirmed NOT to be true. In fact, it turns out that protein, rather than cause bone loss, actually protects our bones.

Days 7 8 of Metamorphosis

So, days 7 and 8 went well. Both days managed to do the workouts, kept to the diet. I dont seem to progress very fast now, as I cant really increase the number of reps for instance much from day to day, and I am still doing those naughty exercises 3 and 4 very slowly. But I feel great! I feel light, healthy, energetic. Right after the training I am a bit tired of course, but a shower does miracles, and I am back to good mood. Today was tough though. I didnt want to workout for some reason, and it was really hard to even start, to find the strength to do one more minute of DC, then one more... Ah. It felt good though to get over it. I had to say many many many times through sometimes gritted teeth "You CAN do it, Liuba" (yes, I sometimes tend to talk with myself).

The diet... Well, I cant say I am happy with this week. Yesterday (Monday and first week of Week 2) I felt hungry all the time. And I mean it: all the time. It wasnt horrible hunger, but it was always there. Today, however, I dont feel hunger at all and have to convince myself to eat. I just hope, it is not some sort of body adjustment to under-nutrition :)))) Cos that would be bad. I decided to increase the portions just a little bit, so I actually feel NOT hungry after I finished eating - particular for meal 3: make bigger salads, take a piece of chicken a little bigger. Right now my chicken is boiling (yes, I prefer boiled chicken than grilled) and salad is ready (half avocado, some tomatoes and celery - I am addicted to celery these days, so put it in almost everything...).

Dinner:

And the full day diet (its more than it looks actually...) After the first day, it is enough for me - but then again, my salad is quite big, but I thought I cant harm much with salad. And I added a carrot: I like to chew on something when I work...

Level 7 restarted day 62 of Metamorphosis

So, Im back from the land of pains and feeling sick and weak... The heat is taking lots of my energy, but I am back on track. I still eat a bit more than I should I guess, but Meta has my back again. I am not gaining weight, I am not loosing it, I am just right. And I love it.

I decided to restart level 7, as I missed about 4 days due to sickness. And as I said before, it is important to take care of your health. So, it was all good. Besides, I dont feel so bad about restarting the level: I was only 2 days into it. And as before, level 7 is indeed tough. Get ready for it. I definitely cannot do all the reps, cannot go Tracys speed - which I sort of could in level 6, so I take it easy and try to push myself just a little bit each day. I am thinking of starting using ankle weights as well. I want results!!!

To be honest, I should be happy about what I have. The problem is that I wont be getting visible and evident results I think anymore. No, dont think I am a pessimist - I am not!!! I swear! Its just I cant really become much lighter or skinnier... My weight wont go down anymore - I am in my normal slender healthy weight right now. And skinnier - well everything much skinnier than now (in terms of measurements in a way) would make me unhealthy. So here. The only visible results I could get at this point are muscles... But surprise surprise - TAM doesnt give you too many visible muscles... So, I am definitely becoming more toned, my muscles are more defined, but they are not bulking out and are not too visible. And because of all this I do lose motivation sometimes. Not for long - but long enough to stall my workout for an hour or two...

Now I feel like I need to find a different way to measure my results... I definitely feel more energetic and strong every single day. But how do we measure it? I also feel a little addicted to workouts, and really positive about them, and the day starts only after one workout. Thats good right? It means I am closer to the goal of making a healthy lifestyle a habit. Cheers to that!

LUCKY 7 NOTTING HILL

Pascal, Arabella and I went bowling to All Star Lanes on Saturday which was super fun - Pascal and I bowled without Arabellas barriers for once which added some extra excitement (and disappointment)! We decided to try somewhere new for lunch and so ventured over to Westbourne Park Road where I had booked a 12.30 table at Crazy Homies. Unfortunately we were 20 minutes early and their kitchen didnt open until 1pm….why they didnt tell us this when we booked I do not know. Pretty annoying as we didnt want to wait around so ended up nipping next door to Lucky 7, a tiny authentic American diner also owned by Tom Conran. Normally I would be overjoyed to have a burger however Pascal and I had been looking forward to a Mexican. Anyway!!

We sat in one of the 6 leather booths and perused the menu - there is basically the choice of brunch or a burger! We obviously went for the latter!

We started with the chips with guacamole, salsa verde, pico de gallo and chipotle - these were delicious - the most incredible guacamole! Another sign that we have to try Crazy Homies!

Pascal and I had the bacon cheese burger.

Arabella had a cheeseburger.

The burgers were good - cooked pink, good quality Aberdeen Angus meat, crispy bacon, a good amount of cheese and I adored the pickle and onion however I wasnt really a fan on the bun - it was too hard. I still managed to eat the lot though!!

The highlight of the meal were the cheesy chips - these were delicious, crispy salty fries covered in melted grated cheese - and we had a massive portion.

Service was quick, friendly and efficient and it was all reasonably priced.

It wasnt the best burger I have ever had due to the bun however it was still tasty and the cheesy fries fabulous. If you are looking for an authentic American diner experience, this is definitely your place -  they also serve great creamy milkshakes, American beers and cocktails, and the breakfast burrito definitely looked very interesting. It is extremely kid friendly (Arabella was obsessed with the quirky decor and the fact you could order Lucky Charms cereal) - they even cater for childrens parties - and take out is available…..hey…..I even sound American now?!!

Week 7 diet

So, I am starting week 7 diet tomorrow. I did the shopping yesterday, so my fridge is stuffed - mostly with fruit and veg... This happens a lot lately, but it is still overly full (and I live alone, so it is only my food!!!)

OK, so in this weeks menu we have:

  • Power Juice
  • Chocolate Pudding
  • Kiwi Basil Puree
  • Waldorf Salad
  • Veggie Snack
  • Carrot Parsnip Puree +
  • 1.2 c red quinoa
  • Fruit Puree
I substituted the Waldorf Salad with Chili, as I really didnt like the Waldorf Salad, but the reason for that may be lies in the fact that I did not use chestnuts for it. And I absolutely loved the Chili. I know it is not the best substitution, but at least I will enjoy it. :) So my shopping list was a bit different from the one on TAM web-site - including Chili ingredients. I couldnt find quinoa... Actually still have no idea what it is, had to Google it and read about it on Wikipedia, and check out how it can be called in German. :) Still no success - even in the international cuisine shelves...

So, my shopping list:

  • Chocolate/chocolate chips (I still have the rest of the ingredients)
  • 3 cups spinach
  • 2 English cucumbers
  • Pack of celery
  • 1 lime
  • 1.4 kg ground beef
  • 6 tomatoes
  • 1 jalapeno
  • 1 large or 2 small zucchinis
  • 1 red bell peppers
  • Roasted garlic
  • 6 parsnips
  • 3.5 cups quinoa
  • 14 kiwis
  • 40 basil leaves
  • 2 oranges
  • Pack of strawberries
  • Pack of blackberries
  • Pack of blueberries
  • Pack of raspberries
  • 2 big bunches fresh mint

So, today I am cooking. Chili and carrot-parsnip puree are ready, I just have to finish the chocolate pudding, and the rest I would prefer to eat fresh.

Here I also wanted to mention the vitamins and other supplements I am taking. I used to take multi-vitamins, but now I decided I need more attention to certain functions in my body, like eyes, my brain (concentration and memory), bones and muscles. They supplement each other, and the same vitamins do not repeat from one pack to another.

I also started taking L-carnitine - just to try it out. Well see how it goes and if I will see any interesting results. :)

Have a great Sunday everyone - and a good rest of Easter weekend!

Level 7 started… and dropped…

So, yes folks, I have started level 7. And as Michelle Styles mentioned – all of the levels would be different and surprising. And it is so true. Level 7 also surprised me – may be a bit less than level 6, but it was only because level 6 sudden change was so unexpected…

Level 7 is tough though. I can do only half of the reps at most now I guess. And some of the exercises simply kill me – I start swearing quite not-lady-like and scream sometimes. Ah, the joys of exercise! It is a good excuse to use bad words! ;) Surprising is the ending of level 7 MS, cause you find yourself… on your back… Yes – that was really shocking. “Are we doing abs AGAIN??” But even though those exercises do involve abs, they are still for legs. Ah well. :)

But as the title says – I did manage to start level 7 (days 1 and 2), but then I could not continue. I also missed 2 days in between level 6 and 7, and 2 days already now. I feel bad about it, but really there is nothing I could do about it. I felt really sick all week. First some digestion disorder, then I managed to do two days of workout, and then I started having strong pains in my lower abdomen and - well girls’ parts… So there was NO way I could jump, or squeeze any muscles for that matter. I am still in recovery today – even though the strong stabbing pain went a bit away, I am able to move (yesterday I spent most of the day in bed or on the couch – exciting huh?!). So we are going to an outdoor weekend now, for some badminton, tennis, games and fun. It’s not like I’m going to be able to participate in all the fun – but at least the sun, fresh air and greenness would be good.

So, I’m still smiling, still shining, but just taking a break while I recover. Have a great weekend everybody!

Just enjoying the sun and breeze of a great sunny day in a cabrio. :)
