Day 81 of Meta!!!!!

So, guess what? I have good news and bad news for you here.

Ill start with the good news. Well, as you can see in the title, I did start level 9!!! Wohoo! Continuity is really soon. To be honest, my hope for no sore muscles anymore by yesterday was just hope. It never came true. Well, my muscles didnt hurt soooo much, but they were still sore, so MS was extremely hard - especially on my right arm and left leg. I have no idea why, but it was. Not to mention, it did kick my ass. And hard. Boy, it was a workout. I had sweat dripping on my mat, me panting and going through a liter of water in just those 30 minutes. In the end I did some stretching and collapsed right there on my mat. At some point during MS my boyfriend came into the room and asked if he could watch (cheeky!!!) - so I kept complaining that it is not muscular structure, but some kind of acrobatics!!! So, folks, it was hard.

Other good news - I continued with tennis today. Class two. Which was also OK, I could get most of the balls, and sometimes - may be one in 6 serves I actually had those nice strokes. That felt good!
Take #2: class 2 of tennis. Started playing with the real adult balls :) And this time on this pic my legs actually look bulky... Am I all sturdy or what? Hmmm

But here come the bad news. Tennis killed me again. I did something to my left leg - again! I got a cramp in the middle of the class, and was thinking I might collapse. Had to take a breather and a water break, and then continue, but the pain never went away. And my right arm is also killing me again - a bit higher up this time, close to the shoulder. Soooo.... no MS for me today. And I will go to bed today with the hope that tomorrow I will feel so much better. I always try to believe in the best! Good day yall!

Day 85 of Meta and the sunrise to remember

Today is day 85. I feel like dragging it all. I really do. Because I dont want Meta to finish. And no, I am not doing it on purpose, it happens, but I do have the feeling that I want to stop time for a while and hang in there - in that last level. Is it because I am not completely satisfied with the results? I might have been eating a bit too much, I cant check my weight as there are no scales. I have been having problems sticking to the workouts every day, because there is always so so so much to do.

But anyway. Enough of self pity :) The good news - I did day 85 today! 5 more days folks! Just 5 more days! It has been a great wonderful time! Today I did the workout in the evening, but it is still kicking my ass. Some of the MS exercises I can repeat after Tracy, some I really have to stop every 5-10 reps and rest for some seconds. It is tough!!!

But today was a great day. It actually felt too long and may be even as if it were two days. In the morning (well, at night) we woke up at 3:30 and went to see the sunrise on top of the mountain. Well guess what? If it is 15 degrees C here during the day, it was 0 up on the top. But boy was it so worth it!!! We went with 3 (!!!) ski lifts to the very top (where the skiers are even not normally allowed) of Mont Fort. We even saw the Mont Blanc - the highest peak in Western Europe (we dont count the Russian Elbrus, which is higher hohoho... :D) But all in all, guys, judge for yourself - it was even more beautiful in real life!!!

Most of these pictures - simply no comments... We were too frozen to really appreciate it all right there. But after doing this great trip, having these pictures.... We definitely will remember this for a lifetime.

Do you know what it is like to go from about 15 degrees to 0? This is what it is like... And a hoody doesnt help! There was snow! In the middle of July. Boy was I freezing!

There is Mont Blanc behind me...  Yeah!

A leisurely ride on a ski lift is nice when the sun is already out and the air is getting warmer. :)

How big is the difference when you go down... and note - not all the way down!

All in all, great day! We had a small breakfast after the sunrise and crashed for a nap. Then Liuba did a lot of "window-shopping" online, tried to work and workout. Well, the day was good anyway. :)

Enjoy your surroundings people!

Meta Level 1 Day 1

So I started it yesterday, the 18th January! Thats the hardest part I guess. And for me finding time is also a very very very difficult task. I wake up early as it is, and as my daughter is still not sleeping completely through the night (after Christmas travelling), I really cant get up any earlier. So instead of working out in the morning like I used to do in the beginning of Meta last time, I work out in the evenings, when Button is asleep already. Today it was quite late - 9 pm. After I put the little pumpkin to sleep at 7pm, I had to clean up and do some work, and finally got around to the workout by 9.

DC. So let me tell you, while I dont remember it, my body DOES!!! I could only remember that DC is crazy jumping. But then the moves start - and here I go, remember even the counts!!! Wow. I decided to start off easy not to overdo it. So, 10 minutes or so, and it was approximately at the limit of my ability for now. I did 11 minutes, and then crawled dead and sweaty to drink some water.

MS. This is tough and easy at the same time. While my body does remember it, the moves are hard to repeat at times. I had to take breaks, and I couldnt to all the reps. But then again, I dont want to overdo it, I need to get into it slowly. So its fine. One thing I remembered I did the last time is switching legs between days, because after the first section, you are already completely dead, and the second leg doesnt get as thorough a workout. Standing abs is still my favourite part, besides the very last 10-20 seconds - when everything is finished and you know - YEY, IM DONE!

Im also adding 3 more things in the end of MS. First, a plank. I started with 20 seconds and will add 5 seconds every three days. When I used to workout pre-pregnancy, I used to be able to do 1.5 minutes. Now 20s was hard... That says a LOT. Second, I added some simple exercises for the back, because it hurts and I need to strengthen it. And third, I am adding as last time some cool-down section with stretching.

EATING. Im not so happy with my eating yet, but I will get there. I will post later about how and what I eat. :) Also to come - my initial measurements, day-by-day reports (or as often as I can), tracking sheets that I prepared which are more convenient for me.

Off to have a lovely long day with my Button and at work. :)

Meta Level 4 results with photos

Well, to be honest, they are not so grand. For anyone, but me. Cos I know my body best, cos I know what it is like, and what it was like. I had so far a great - an amazing and fulfilling journey! But my best friend (Ritych) once said "May be it is because you have not worked out before, your body got shocked from all the exercise". And I think she was right. Truly right. Very often it takes so much longer for people to see any results at all, when their bodies are toned and fit already. It takes so much more time to reach those accessory muscles of theirs, and tone everything up, lean everything out. For me - all my muscles we shocked, I was shocked, and here we go.

No, I have not reached a plateau. I just nearly reached my desired weight - I dont really want to lose weight much below 52 kilos. And I am already quite small in measurements. So in the past level I got my boobs back :) Sorry for mentioning that, but i guess I will always go around 1-2 cm up and down there. The only other areas I still lost cm in were thighs (HOORAY!): -1, left bikini: -1 and right bikini: -0.5. Weight went 0.5 kilos down, but it generally tends to keep within a kilo or so throughout the week (going up and down).

And as I am not going to present the before and after pics now... As a teaser, and for all those who are still not inspired enough... I am gonna show you my abs... They are getting better each day... But when I got a new bikini (cos I am going to Italy this summer - YEY!!!), and took some pics for my boyfriend to see... I could not believe them myself. So just see for yourself. It does work, people!

Can you believe it is only 1.5 months in between the pics on the right and left??!! I still cant! :D :D :D
Just really look look look at my abs... :)

In the end just wanted to say... I do feel good. I do eat enough, I exercise, I am following most of the things. I love the way I feel. I love the way I am. I love when I cant find my sizes in shops as everything is too big. I love to fit in my old jeans. I love to feel confident and secure, energetic and healthy. I run up the stairs, and I dont loose my breath. I dance for an hour in salsa, and I am still able to go on. I love it. It is not only how you look (it is just the easiest to present) - it is a lot how you feel, ladies. And I feel great!!!!

Day 80 of Meta!!! And how tennis killed me

Today I finally finished level 8. It just is like this with some levels: they take ages. I guess it also happens very often that right around level 6 you start losing interest and motivation, it gets harder and harder to keep going. Gets harder to keep yourself motivated and inspired, gets harder to reason with your laziness: the results (at least for me) dont come fast, or come only slightly visually - which are the hardest to notice. The numbers dont move much anymore. And the visuals very often depend on how the pictures are taken, what is the lightning, what are the positions... So, what I judge my progress by is how I feel every day, how I like my pics from the beach holiday and how my boyfriend likes the way I look :) (Though to be honest, he is never objective... :) )
I have to be honest: I like myself in a bikini these days. Still a lot to work on
(my inner-thighs are particularly stubborn), but Im getting there!

Yesterday I didnt manage to do the workout. Yesterday I played tennis. Well, I tried. Lets say, I started learning. I guess it is like skiing: easier to learn when you are a kid. But I never did learn either of the things, so I think it is never too late to start. I had my first tennis class - privately one-on-one with the trainer. And here is another thing TA didnt prepare me for: tennis. My right arm and wrist were killing me - or rather they were both quite dead till the very night. I had weakness in my body all over (even had to take a nap!!!), which transformed into painfully strong muscle ache in my thighs, arms, back and butt in the morning. I didnt expect that - thats for sure! All the tennis players look so effortless, and gracious... And here I am feeling like an old lady: it hurts to sit, it hurts to get up, it hurts to go up and down the stairs, it hurts to simply move. But after all, I love this pain. I love love LOVE the muscle pain! I dont remember last time I was SO dead after exercise. And I think I should definitely continue! And I will try. Now I started looking at some tennis skirts online - if I am doing it, Im going to do it in full attire!
My first class. Technique is horrible, but at least I dont miss the ball - well not too often :) Im also a little shocked with a little too bulky shoulders of mine... I look really trained... Hmmm. Not sure I like it and dunno how to make it less.
Today I worked out alright. And believe me - it was NOT easy. My butt muscles were killing me! MS was so tough, I thought I would need to stop in the middle (and it was freaken level 8 - which I know by heart now and was able to do with ankle and wrist weights!!!) - it was literally hard to lift my left leg behind me. Im honest. Who would have thought that tennis would do that to someone? :) But I pushed through it - cos I know muscles need to work out to feel better. So I am working them out. My right arm is still really weak, but the exercise actually helped. I also took long relaxing baths after tennis yesterday and TA workout today. And needed naps both days too. But I was happy to note that DC was actually relieving for muscles - it has lots of stretching and light muscle work, so I felt really good doing it and after it as well. Back muscle ache is nearly gone after it.

And so now I am happy to announce: I am done with level 8!!!! Done! Done! Done! Hurray!!!! Off to level 9 tomorrow - and I hope my muscles will feel better by tomorrow, as I heard a lot about level 9 - that it is indeed challenging. So I am excited and nervous a little. But excitement overtakes :)))

Have a good day everyone! Im off to bed, hoping that tomorrow will wake up fresh and muscles feeling OK. Fingers crossed!

Day 83 of Meta!!! Ah so close!

Guess what am doing?!!!

HA HA - Im doing dance cardio!!! :) How does Tracy manage to look so elegant when she is doing it? :)

Today I asked my bf to take some pics while I was jumping DC. And to be honest, I was a little shocked. :) I look sooooo funny. God, couldnt stop laughing. I dont look like I am working out, I look like Im a child jumping on a trampoline... being silly too... And then look at the video.... OMG!

So, all in all, I have to say, I look ridiculous... And it is on day 83 of Meta - so I am supposed to be quite good in DC by now... But I still look like a little hippopotamus in training leggins jumping away :) Funny. :) But still, you have to agree - the view behind is breathtaking

Enough of making fun on my account... Lets get serious :) After overall three classes of tennis, I finally was able to return to every-day TA work outs. My muscles are still sore a little, but not too bad really. Tennis was fun, but returning to Meta feels good. I think I will try to combine it all now - I just needed my muscles to stop aching so much after every time playing tennis.

The MS in level 9 still kills me. I actually found arms quite hard - cant say I had that feeling ever since level 2 or 3... So, that is still a surprise: day 3 of level 9 and I still can hardly do the arms, and start screaming by the end. At the same time, abs seem quite doable - easier than in level 7 or 8. But the legs section. BOY!!!!

The very first exercise, which started in this position
... and then you have to kick your leg up...

So, my working leg actually didnt feel too much - but the supporting leg on the mat was killing me after 5 reps already!!!! I was shocked!!! Cmon - first exercise and in level 9 and it kills me?? Grrrr!

The rest of MS feels more doable - tough, but doable at least...

Off to work now again. Sigh.

One month with Meta and still going strong… Or

Today is exactly a month since I started my journey. And I thought it is about time to talk a little about the journey itself, without counting kilos, calories, describing the workouts, the diet, whining how tough it all is and so on, and so forth… It is time to reflect, to think what has actually been going on in my head, to try to understand in what way has this journey changed me and my life so far. Because we are not talking only about kilos, calories, muscles and sexy butt here, are we? I mean, it might seem this way sometimes, but really – we are not. Those are just some of the visible results, some of the outcomes. Much more has been going on in the background, somewhere deep inside my head and sub-consciousness. Or not?

First and foremost, the workout has become part of my life. Even if it doesn’t fit in the schedule, even if I very often don’t start it with a smile on my face (cmon, I am just a human!), even if it intervenes with work… Yes, it has become a part of my mindset of the things to do. It is really on the way of becoming a habit, but I am not going to be risky and not remind myself: “You have to do it” every day. I think this is the longest ever commitment to workout and healthy lifestyle I ever had and managed to keep up with. I have to say, that even though I have not been able to follow the diet to the T, I still stuck with healthy eating – which is after all the most important thing. I think this is a right way for changing the mindset. I very often don’t have to tell myself “I am on diet, I should eat this”, but rather “This looks healthy and yummy”. And I guess this is really important.

This all been said, there are not just only positive things. I am still majorly struggling with the rest of my life. As I did start with putting the workouts the first thing on my daily to-do-list, it has moved my schedule at least 1.5. And I have never been good in scheduling and organizing. And instead of waking up an 1-2 earlier (which still happens sometimes), I keep waking up the same time I used to before, and then the workout takes around 1-2 hours from my work routine. You see, I am a PhD student, I have a free schedule to work whenever and wherever basically. So, it is really hard for an unorganized person like me to get into a good routine. I am still trying, and still struggling about 4 days out of 5… I have to start working on weekends too as I don’t get enough done over the workdays… The sad truths of my life. This problem sucks me into some bad moods and stress sometime, so the next thing on my monthly agenda is to GET INTO A ROUTINE. It is hard to start working out, but for me it is even harder to start doing so without hurting my other spheres of my life: professional and personal. Hence, this will be the agenda for month 2.

This is me working, and this will be my pastime in the next months. Bring it on!

Besides that, I think I positively see differences in my life. I have more energy. I am on average more positive. And I am feeling more confident.
